Parkview Care showed their support at the Tottenham game on Sunday!

We’re rooting for our favourite team to get through to the champions league this weekend!

Our home in Kent has been thinking of ways to get out and make its stamp on the local community.

During half term a day was planned with the young people and staff team to get out into the village and take part in an orienteering activity which included a litter pick.

Well done to all involved on having such a positive impact on the local community.

A massive congratulations to Team RC who pulled out all the stops finding all the items on their list and collecting a large bag of litter protecting the village wildlife.

Our young people at The Cottage have been learning all about health and nutrition from our dedicated staff team.

As a result of discovering the benefits of growing your own vegetables, they thought it would be a great fun to try growing some of them. Our fantastic maintenance team were more than happy to build a vegetable patch in the garden and our young people spent a busy day over the weekend creating their veg patch.

Well done to all involved, we cannot wait to see the results of your hard work!

Parkview Education are pleased to announce our new provision, Maple Tree Primary School has now been registered by the DfE and is ready to receive new pupils.

Maple Tree Primary School is a beautiful school standing within its own grounds, designed to provide pupils with the opportunities they may otherwise not be offered in larger mainstream settings. Our bright, spacious classrooms offer excellent learning environments for pupils with SEMH and associated learning needs.

Our newly appointed staff led by Teacher in Charge, Laura Stubbs, offer a wealth of experience with a child focused approach at the forefront of their teaching. Maple Tree Primary will provide education placements for pupils in key stage 2 (ages 7 – 11).

Maple Tree Primary School provides a nurturing and welcoming environment with a high staff ratio to support those finding their own learning styles by offering small class sizes, 1-1 tuition if required, routines, and boundaries. The school will build on the exceptional reputation of our established secondary school, offering pupils a great start in life.

At the beginning of 2022, we introduced our Core Values Awards, where we recognise those employees that have gone above and beyond and shown how they truly align with our core values.

The first Core Values Award was for the employee who showed they are ‘Passionate’ We asked staff for their nominations for an employee who has:

  • Taken pride in their work
  • Shown passion in learning
  • Looked to improve and innovate their practice,
  • Pushed themselves to be at their best
  • Focused on creating solutions and
  • Inspired others to make a difference through hard work, talent, and commitment

It made us proud to see so many nominations for a number of different staff members across the organisation and the reasons they were nominated for being ‘Passionate’. Having reviewed the nominations, there was one clear winner- ENZO who received the most nominations!

Nominations received stated Enzo shows passion for the homes by making sure the homes are well-kept and somewhere to be proud of.

Enzo always has a positive attitude, comes in with a smile on his face, makes others happy and has even offered to help out on shifts. Nominations complimented Enzo to say how he puts in 110% effort, often stays late to complete any tasks required and he always puts the needs of the young people first.

A massive well done to Enzo and all those nominated for the Parkview Core Values ‘Passionate’ award.

The nominations will soon be open for our Parkview Core Values ‘Accountable’ Award and we look forward to seeing our staff member’s positive comments and nominations for this category.

The staff at Parkview Academy are not shy of getting involved when it comes to dressing up or taking part in activities.

They recently created a murder mystery day, where the staff dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland and the students were given clues to help them discover ‘who did it’.

It was an eventful day where students were set specific tasks, such as screaming ‘there has been a murder’, finding props and clues and one student was tasked with photo bombing any photos that were being taken that day.

This promoted team work as the students worked in teams of 3 and it really brought confidence to the group. A huge thank you to Terri for all of her hard work and efforts in organising this fantastic event.

You may also remember our news story around the staff dressing up for a Halloween themed coffee morning and pyjama day where they raised £282.49 for Alzheimer’s UK, a charity chosen by the students.

If you would like to join our amazing team, where every day is different, we have Learning Support Assistant roles and Teacher roles available at Parkview Academy.

At Parkview we pride ourselves on developing our young people’s feelings of security.

The progress that they make enables them to look outwards and to be sensitive to the needs of others. Our young people become involved in causes helping other children to make progress.

The recent traumatic events in the world are no exception and all of our homes have been exploring the devastation in the news. We have asked our young people to produce ideas to help and all of our young people were given a budget to support the shoe box appeal.

Our young people went with staff to gather a wide variety of items to make up shoe boxes which they have taken to drop-off points for supplies to be taken to those in desperate need in the Ukraine.

Well done to all of our young people for thinking of others and putting bits together to support those in the Ukraine.

A massive congratulations to Rachel and her team at Primrose House who have recently received their Ofsted Registration.

We would like to celebrate this news by telling you all about our fantastic, newly registered, manager, Rachel, who joined the Parkview family in the summer.

Rachel has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in residential childcare. Rachel has worked in the care sector for 8 years now and has a national higher diploma in nursing studies as well as a level 3 in working with children and young people. Rachel began her career in children’s residential as a support worker and has held the position of team leader, deputy manager, and an independent reviewing officer for children’s services. Rachel puts a real focus on creating a safe and supportive environment, full of learning opportunities for her young people and staff alike.

We wish Rachel and her team all the best as they grow and develop Primrose House to a home.

A massive Happy Birthday to R at one of our homes who today celebrated her sweet 16th.

The entire team got together to surprise R after school with a lovely meal with far too much cake for dessert!

R has been so grateful for all of her lovely presents including a trip to a spa for this weekend. On top of this our managing director chatted with R and provided her with a gift voucher for some retail therapy.

Thank you so much to our incredible team for giving R the birthday she deserved!

A massive congratulations to Clayton, Tiffany, and their dedicated team at Ivy lodge as well as of course our young people who this week had their interim Ofsted inspection.

The feedback truly reflected the positive outcomes being achieved in the home by our incredible team which has resulted in improved effectiveness being received by the home.

Focus points of the feedback included:

  • The young people express feeling happy and safe in the home.
  • Risk assessments are robust and hold external agencies accountable to their roles.
  • The home advocates for the needs of its young people and effective challenges agencies who they feel have not fulfilled their role.
  • Training provided to the team is focused and relevant to the needs of young people.
  • Care plans provide support and guidance to the team and share the views of the young people which is linked to targeted key working and interventions.
  • Supervision of the team and manager is regular. Supervision provides focus and development to staff which improves outcomes for the young people.

We could not be prouder of our team and young people at Ivy lodge, and we look forward to your full inspection in the next cycle.
